Across Kentucky, Republican voter registration has been increasing, while Democratic registration has seen a decline. The following information has been consolidated by Boyd County Republican Party 24th of July, 2025

The population of Northeastern Kentucky is approximately 343,000, and is largely made up of working-class families across its 12 counties. This traditionally conservative region includes counties like Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Lawrence, Lewis, Mason, and Rowan, among others. Many of these counties also lie within Kentucky's 5th congressional district. And, according to a recent press release from the Republican Party of Kentucky, “Beshear’s continued pandering to the far left and total disregard for rural Kentucky voters and their values have set in motion the collapse of the Democratic Party’s support outside Louisville and Lexington." However, this is only part of a larger trend. Across Northeastern KY, grass-roots voters have long felt the pain of the Democrat Party's assault on their traditional values. The fact that Northeastern KY voters are making their voices heard is also garnering national attention.

Take note that, despite the Kentucky's 5th congressional district's strong Republican lean, it features Elliott County which, before being carried by Donald Trump in 2016, had never voted for a Republican president since its founding in 1869, making it the longest Democratic voting streak. Until 2018, when the county gave Rogers 54.6% of its vote, the county had never voted for Rogers, despite him winning at least 65% of the vote in the district in every election except 1992.

Furthermore, consider the following:

KY SENATOR ROBIN WEBB SWITCHES PARTIES

"... And their numbers just decreased by one in the state Senate after state Senator Robin Webb switched to become a Republican. She says that the Democratic Party has become too radical and alienated Kentucky and on the issues that matter most and said that the Democratic Party no longer represents her values or those of her rural constituencies. As it is, there are only six Democrats out of a total of 38 in the Kentucky state Senate. There are only 20 Democrats out of 100 in the state House."

Senator Webb's recent decision reflects the Republican Party's ongoing commitment to improving the lives of everyday people in our region.

This excerpt, taken from U.S. Congressman Hal Rogers' biography, reflects a lifetime of dedication and service.

"Born in rural Kentucky and representing one of the poorest Congressional Districts in the nation, Rogers’ vision for a stronger region spurred some of the greatest success stories in southern and eastern Kentucky. Organizations such as Operation UNITE, Southeast Kentucky Economic Development (SKED)The Center for Rural Development, Eastern Kentucky PRIDE and Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR), have brought local communities together by revitalizing the environment, providing hope in the fight against drugs, supporting small business owners, and creating jobs and new innovative opportunities in one of the most beautiful parts of the country."

Meanwhile, the Family Foundation's March 2025 Victory Report from the 2025 General Assembly!, shared the following recent Republican victories:

  • HJR 15 - Restoring the Ten Commandments monument back to the KY Capitol grounds.

  • HB 495 - Reversing Beshear's "conversion therapy" executive order and ensuring tax dollars don't pay for gender mutilation procedures via Medicaid.

  • SB 2 - Prohibit taxpayer-funded gender mutilation procedures in state correctional facilities.

  • HB 4 - Banning and defunding discriminatory DEI programs in our public universities.

  • HB 90 - Pro-mom & pro-baby legislation to clarify KY's pro-life laws while protecting maternal health plus expanding pro-life perinatal palliative care and access to freestanding birthing centers.

  • HB 208 - Ensure cell phones are not a distraction during class instructional time while also ensuring social media sites are not accessible on school Wi-Fi.

  • SB 19 - Allow public school students to attend bible classes off campus and have a moment of silence at the start of the school day.

The Democrat Party leadership across Northeastern KY continues neglecting the needs of everyday voters, and are failing to uphold our traditional values. If, like so many of your neighbors have already done, you too are considering switching your party affiliation to the Republican Party you can easily do so online by simply clicking here.

You have a choice, you have a voice, and your vote counts!

"Northeastern Kentucky: "Elected Democrats in rural Kentucky are becoming a rarity.""

Interesting information. Many times rural areas and conservatives are left on the side lines. Unfortunately, large democrat cities frequently carry a state. Being from Pa., Philadelphia and Pittsburgh seemed to usually carry the state to the democrats.

Some democrats are understanding the changes in the democrat party. Some are now switching parties.
